The Moonlight Beach palm tree is an Encinitas icon and it is fun to photograph is under different conditions. In this case I took the shot at sunset under a magnificent sky. I timed the shot to line the tree up with the setting sun, and as such allowed the tree to beautifully connect the air, earth and ocean in a streak of light.

<p>I am a freelance photographer based in Encinitas, California. My work is heavily influenced by the surfing and beach centric culture we enjoy here in North Coastal San Diego County. I have been practicing photography for 13 years, and my work has been well received. My images have been published by National Geographic, Outdoor Photographer and Encinitas Magazine,.
