This painting was made on a repurposed surfboard that was old, damaged and ready to be thrown away. The artist repaired and prepared the board to receive this beautiful and detailed watercolor painting inspired by a picture she took of La Jolla Cove, one of her favorite places in San Diego. She also used some acrylic, gouache and clear protective spray paint. The artist’s goal is to show that not everything that is damaged is trash, that the environment needs our protection and sometimes repairing, like this surfboard. One of the ways to protect this fragile Earth is to reuse and prolong the life of our belongings. Produce less trash, be more conscious buyers and inspire other people to do the same. She turned trash into something new. A broken not useful surfboard into a piece of art that will remind people of the beautiful planet we live in.
